Autism Assessment & Support · New Cairo

No Two Children on the Spectrum Look the Same

Autism is a profile, not a single symptom. We assess communication, play, sensory response, regulation and daily living — then build support around the child in front of us, with the family involved from the first session.

Understanding the Profile

Strengths Matter as Much as Areas of Need

A useful assessment records what a child can already do — because that is what the plan is built on. Both columns below come from the same assessment, and both are written into the report you receive.

What we look for as strengths

  • Visual learning, pattern recognition and memory for detail
  • Focused, sustained interest in preferred topics or activities
  • Consistency and comfort with predictable routines
  • Honesty and directness in communication
  • Skills that are already emerging and can be built on

What we assess as areas of need

  • Understanding and using language, including non-verbal communication
  • Social interaction, joint attention and reciprocal play
  • Sensory responses that affect participation and tolerance
  • Flexibility with change, transitions and unexpected events
  • Daily living skills, feeding, sleep and self-regulation
The Assessment Pathway

Four Steps, Explained Before Each One

You will always know what is happening next and why. Nothing is scheduled before the previous step has been discussed with you.

1

Developmental history

A structured conversation about pregnancy, milestones, communication, play, sensory patterns and daily routines.

2

Structured observation

The clinician observes communication, play and interaction directly, using age-appropriate standardised tools.

3

Team discussion

Where indicated, speech, occupational and psychology input is gathered so the profile is not judged from one angle.

4

Findings and plan

You receive an explanation in plain language, a written profile, and a recommendation of what is relevant to start now.

Family and School

The Plan Only Works If It Leaves the Clinic

Most of a child’s week happens at home and at school, not in a therapy room. Parent coaching is part of the programme, not an add-on, and with your consent we share written guidance with your child’s school so the same approach is used in both places.

Being Straight With Families

What Support Can and Cannot Do

Autism is a way of developing, not an illness to be removed. Well-matched support builds communication, independence and participation. Anyone promising to cure autism is not being honest with you.

What we work towards

✓ Functional communication in whatever form works for your child.

✓ Greater independence in daily routines and self-care.

✓ Better regulation and tolerance of everyday environments.

✓ Participation at home, at school and with peers.

✓ Parents who feel equipped rather than lost.

What we will not claim

✗ That autism can be cured, reversed or outgrown.

✗ That any device, diet or protocol removes autism.

✗ A fixed timeline — children progress at their own pace.

✗ Percentages or success rates we cannot evidence.

✗ That one therapy alone is enough for every child.

Questions Parents Ask

Honest Answers, No Sales Pitch

At what age can autism be assessed?

Signs can often be identified from around 18 months to 2 years, and we assess from age 2. Earlier assessment matters because early support is generally more effective — but an assessment at any age is still worthwhile, and we also see older children and teenagers.

Do we need a diagnosis before starting therapy?

No. If your child has clear developmental needs, support can begin while assessment continues. A label is useful for schools and services, but the plan is built on the profile, not the label.

Is autism caused by parenting, vaccines or diet?

No. Autism is a neurodevelopmental difference with a strong genetic component. Nothing a parent did caused it. Be cautious of any provider who suggests otherwise or sells a protocol based on that claim.

Can autism be cured?

No, and we will not tell you it can. Autism is a way the brain develops. What good support does is build communication, independence and participation, and reduce the difficulties that limit daily life.

My child is non-verbal. Is speech therapy still useful?

Yes. Speech and language therapy covers all forms of communication, including gestures, pictures and alternative communication methods. Building any reliable way to communicate usually reduces frustration and behaviour difficulties.

How many sessions per week will my child need?

It depends on the profile, the child’s age and what the family can sustain. We recommend what the assessment supports and review it at set points rather than committing you to a long block up front.

Do you work with my child’s school?

With your consent, yes. We provide written guidance for teachers and can advise on classroom strategies so the same approach is used in both settings.
