Biology Is Part of the Picture

Behavioural and emotional difficulties usually have more than one contributing factor. Alongside psychological and behavioural assessment, we review the physical side that often gets skipped: sleep, appetite, digestion, iron and vitamin status, and how the body responds to stress.

HRV testing gives a picture of how the body handles stress. Where a physical contributor turns up — a documented deficiency, disturbed sleep, constipation or pain — it is treated on its own terms, alongside the psychological work rather than in place of it.

What We Review

  • HRV testing to assess autonomic nervous system balance
  • Psychology, CBT and live parent coaching for emotional regulation
  • Digestive symptoms reviewed where they affect sleep, appetite or comfort
  • Iron, vitamin D and B-vitamin status checked and corrected where a deficiency is documented
  • Sleep, appetite and daily routine reviewed as part of the whole picture

Behavioral & Emotional Patterns

Recognising these patterns is the first step toward working out what is driving them.

😰

Chronic Anxiety

Persistent worry, panic responses, or avoidance behaviors affecting daily life

😤

Aggression & Tantrums

Explosive emotional responses, difficulty managing anger or frustration

🌀

Mood Instability

Rapid mood shifts, irritability, or emotional sensitivity inconsistent with circumstances

🚶

Social Withdrawal

Avoidance of social situations, difficulty forming or maintaining relationships

💔

Emotional Sensitivity

Intense reactions to minor disappointments, rejection sensitivity, or perfectionism

Oppositional Behavior

Persistent defiance, rule-breaking, or conflict with authority figures

Therapies & Protocols

A medical review that runs alongside psychological and behavioural care — never in place of it.

Protocol 01

HRV Testing

A non-invasive measure of how the body’s stress response is balanced. It is used to inform the plan and to track change over time. It is not a diagnostic test and is never read on its own.

Protocol 02

Psychology & Parent Coaching

Structured psychological support and live parent coaching, so emotional regulation is worked on directly using methods with strong evidence behind them.

Protocol 03

Digestive & Sleep Review

Constipation, reflux and disturbed sleep are common, treatable, and frequently overlooked. Where they are present, addressing them lifts a load the child is carrying into every session.

Protocol 04

Nutritional Assessment

Iron, vitamin D and B12 are checked where symptoms or history suggest it. Correcting a documented deficiency is worth doing on its own terms; it is not offered as a treatment for behaviour.

FAQ

We do not replace mental health professionals — we work alongside them. Our role is the medical side: making sure nothing physical is being missed while the psychological and behavioural work goes on.
It can contribute. Pain, disturbed sleep, constipation and iron deficiency all leave a child less able to regulate, and all are treatable. That is not the same as saying they cause an emotional difficulty — the evidence does not support that, and we will not claim it.
Yes. Many families use our biological protocols alongside existing treatments. We work collaboratively with your existing care team.
HRV (Heart Rate Variability) is a non-invasive measure of how the body’s stress response is balanced. It gives the clinician a starting point and something to track. It does not diagnose anxiety, and it is read alongside the clinical picture rather than on its own.
